Sometimes a play can make you appreciate the important role theater can play in society. Last week I saw “How I Learned to Drive” on Broadway. The play by Paula Vogel first opened 25 years ago off-Broadway.  At the time it received a lot of publicity because it dealt openly with sexual abuse.  The car rides of a teen age girl and her uncle are presented with the necessary sensitivity and back story to make them very painful yet relatable.
Have you noticed how much fun our Gotham family members have together?
I love hidden gems. I’m referring to those small restaurants that have been in your neighborhood forever and you can always rely on for a good meal.
Friday became a rather special day.
Last Wednesday was a treat for me. It was the last class I taught for the present cohort of students through the entrepreneurship program at Hofstra.    It was a treat because we met in person! After 40+ hours of teaching online, I finally got to meet everyone face to face. It was so uplifting being in the room with these budding entrepreneurs, feeling the energy that we, as humans, give to one another when we are face to face.
Neither of my parents graduated high school and my mother made it a priority that I attend college.
About once a week I receive a copy of the Vineyard Gazette in the mail. It’s the local newspaper from Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. We’ve been visiting the Vineyard for years and, for the limited time we spend there, we consider it one of our homes away from home. We always read the Gazette when we are on the Vineyard.
